Ure-K is an excellent solution for thermal protection for any building environment. Ure-k is primarily a thermal barrier but it can be used for acoustic control. It is sometimes used in combination over spray polyurethane insulation if it is not protected by drywall. It can also be applied to metal for thermal protection. At one inch, it will reduce the ignition or burning of combustible surfaces and have an r-value of 3.5. Only one inch of Ure-K is ever used in any situation.

In addition to Ure-K, Barrier offers two acoustic specific coatings; K13 and Sona Spray. K13 is another cellulose product much like Ure-K except it is specifically designed for acoustic control and soundproofing. Many would argue that K13 outperforms Icynene foam insulation for acoustic sound control. Using K13 in combination with closed-cell polyurethane foam would be the best way to have maximum sound comfort in your home or business. K13 has an r-value of 3.5 per inch and can be applied up to five inches unlike Ure-K which only allows one inch.

Sona Spray is another acoustic control product that is only applied up to a half inch and does not offer any r-value. Some of its uses are in schools or public buildings. Please call Barrier to learn about which thermal or acoustic coating would best suit your needs.
