Sector: Residential
Project: Arends' Home
Location: North Minneapolis

Andrew and Heather Arends both work in the environmental field, and understand the importance of properly applied insulation. They called on Barrier to improve the efficiency of their 1920s-era, two-story home with SPF insulation. As a result, the Arends' note that their heating and cooling bills have been greatly reduced, and their home now longer has ice dams, evidence that almost no heat is being lost through the roof.

Sector: Residential
Project: The Adams House
Location: Northeast Minneapolis

The owners of this 1890s-era home rescued it from pending demolition, with a dream to renew it to its original beauty. They knew they could rely on Barrier's technical expertise to not only insulate this unique structure to modern standards, but also preserve its integrity and character. Barrier applied a two-inch coating of spray foam insulation between the plaster and the drywall, and also sprayed the foundation.

Sector: Residential
Project: The Brower Home
Location: Prior Lake

The Brower home posed unique challenges, such as its tall walls, curved corners and unique roofline. Additionally, the home was built into the side of a hill. Barrier was able to provide a solution by spraying foam insulation both above and below grade. The spray foam also was able to provide more effective insulation around the tall vaults in the ceiling throughout the home.

Sector: Education
Project: Holy Trinity School
Location: Winsted, Minnesota

The Holy Trinity School, located in a turn-of-the-century structure, needed to make the building more comfortable and energy efficient. The school district called on Barrier, which scheduled the work around school hours. The roof area needing insulation was above a drop ceiling with grid work, which presented some challenges. The areas of the roof insulated by Barrier are now the only parts that hold frost and snow, indicating that no heat is being lost through that portion of the roof.
